Doug Price, FSA, MAAA, President of IAS is one of the original founding members of IAS. He is also an active owner and board member of the company.
Doug has over 30 years of experience in all aspects of the life and health insurance industry, serving in several capacities to include actuarial consulting and administration and insurance company operations.
Mark Postove, ASA
Senior Vice President & Chief Operations Officer
Mr. Mark Postove joined IAS in 1998 and has held a number of key roles including Senior Vice President, CIO, and now COO. In his current capacity Mr. Postove is responsible for daily operations in New Business, Claims and Policyowner Services.
Prior to joining IAS, Mr. Postove entered the life insurance industry in 1976, and has worked at several life insurance companies and actuarial consulting firms. He was also an independent consultant and software developer. Mr. Postove has experience and expertise in the design, development, and use of insurance administrative systems.
In addition to his experience, Mr. Postove has been an Associate of the Society of Actuaries since 1978. Mr. Postove earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Davidson College.
Vice President of Information Technology Applications
David Carpenter joined IAS in 2006 and is the Director of IT Applications, managing the Applications area of the Information Technology Department including IAS’s technical staff of programmers and analysts.
Prior to joining IAS, Mr. Carpenter spent 14 years in the insurance industry in various management roles related to application development, document automation, customer service, and quality assurance.
Mr. Carpenter earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Sonoma State University.
Darcey Shaffer, FLMI, ACS
FLMI, ACS – Director of Corporate Relations
Darcey Shaffer joined IAS in 1996 and is the Director of Corporate Relations, overseeing the compliance of administrative operations, corporate relations, and Consumer Affairs. Ms. Shaffer is responsible for TPA license renewals, TPA financial and annual reports, reporting to state departments, monitoring regulatory developments, corporate insurance, product development, filing administrative forms, premium rate filings, legal correspondence, and Consumer Affairs.
Prior to joining IAS, Ms. Shaffer worked 10 years for a large insurance company. In addition to her experience, she is a Fellow of the Life Management Institute and an Associate, Customer Service. Ms. Shaffer earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Insurance from Illinois Wesleyan University.
Tim Grooms, CMA, FLMI
Director of Finance
Tim Grooms joined IAS in 1989 as an Accounting Manager and is now the Director of Finance overseeing all finance related areas within the company including Treasury, Premium and Commission Accounting, Reinsurance Administration, and Corporate Accounting. During his tenure at IAS Mr. Grooms has worked extensively with various insurance companies, marketing organizations, and reinsurers to set up and administer various blocks of business as they relate to accounting and reporting, commissions and annualized advancing, and reinsurance agreements.
Prior to joining IAS Mr. Grooms worked for an insurance company preparing premium tax filings and handling investment accounting for two different carriers. Prior to entering the insurance field Mr. Grooms worked a few years for a mapping company as an Assistant Manager producing various kinds of digital maps.
In addition to his experience, Mr. Grooms is a Certified Management Accountant and is a Fellow of the Life Management Institute. Mr. Grooms earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree in Natural Sciences from the University of South Florida.
Heather Bosley, FLMI, HIA, ACS, HCSA, AIAA, AIT
Director of Policy Owner Services
Heather Bosley joined IAS in 2004 and is the Director of Policy Owner Services, managing the customer service provided by the Health Division’s Policy Owner Service teams.
Prior to joining IAS, Ms. Bosley spent 9 years in the insurance industry working in customer service, policy issue, agent licensing, commission accounting, business analysis, and quality testing.
In addition to her experience, Ms. Bosley is a Fellow of the Life Management Institute; a Health Insurance Associate; Associate Customer Service; Healthcare Customer Service Associate; Associate, Insurance Agency Administration; and Associate, Information Technology. Ms. Bosley earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Central Florida.
Debra S. Klein, FLMI, ACS
Director of New Business
Debra Klein joined IAS in 1999 and is the Director of New Business, managing the application processing, underwriting and policy issue operations for Medicare Supplement, Cancer, Life and Short Term Care insurance products.
Prior to joining IAS, Ms. Klein spent 9 years working in scheduling, workflow analysis, and business procedures.
In addition to her experience, Ms. Klein is a Fellow of the Life Management Institute and an Associate, Customer Service. Ms. Klein earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Production Operations Management from the University of Wisconsin Whitewater.
Director of Claims
Sue Schmidt joined IAS in 1999 and is the Director of Claims, managing the operations of our Medicare Supplement, Cancer, Accident & Health, Indemnity and Life Insurance products.
Prior to joining IAS, Ms. Schmidt spent 20 years in the insurance industry working in various management roles, for a third party administrator and a large insurance company with experience in group Major Medical, PPO and dental insurance claims administration for their state account operations and national major accounts. Ms. Schmidt’s areas of expertise include inventory management and project consulting for product conversions with a focus on daily health claims operations, with proven results.
Michelle Barrick, PMP
Director of Human Resources
Michelle Barrck joined IAS in 2016 as Director of Human Resources, managing Human Resources, Training and Reception.
Prior to joining IAS, Mrs. Barrick spent 20 years working in the Electronic Services Industry in Human Resources and a few years in Operations in a Project Management Office (PMO).
In addition to her experience, Mrs. Barrick is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP). She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with a minor in Human Resources from Olivet Nazarene University and her Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Louisville, Kent School of Social Work.
Gary Cannaday, PMP
Director of Information Technology Systems
Gary Cannaday joined IAS in 2008 and is the Director of IT Systems, managing the Systems area of the Information Technology Department.
Prior to joining IAS, Mr. Cannaday spent over 25 years with various areas of IT infrastructure, including various management roles. In addition to his experience, he is a certified Project Management Professional.
Mr. Cannaday earned a Bachelor of Engineering Technology degree in Computer Science from the University of South Florida and a Master’s degree in Systems and Information Management from the Florida Institute of Technology.
Edie Bertoncini joined IAS in 2016 as Corporate Controller, overseeing all finance related areas of the Corporate Accounting Department.
Prior to joining IAS, Ms. Bertoncini spent over 20 years in various industries, including Management Consulting, Sports, and Manufacturing.
In addition to her experience, Ms. Bertoncini earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Finance and a second Bachelor degree in Information Systems and Design from the University of South Florida.
